Preimplantation Genetic Screening

Preimplantation Genetic Screening

“A technique used to screen chromosome aneuploidy (abnormal number of chromosomes) in embryos created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) before pregnancy”

Using preimplantation genetic screening to selectively implant the most viable embryos can help:

  • Improves implantation rates
  • Reduces spontaneous abortion
  • Increases ongoing pregnancy rate
  • Enables single embryo transfers, decreasing the number of high-risk multiple pregnancies

Chromosome screening may be benefit to women at a high risk of aneuploidy who include the following:

  • Women of advanced maternal age
  • Couples with history of recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Couples with repeated IVF failure
  • Couples with a family history of chromosome problems
  • Male partner with severe male factor infertility
  • Good prognosis (Age<35)*
